 ಔರಂಗಾಬಾದ್ ನ ದೇವಗಿರಿ ಕೋಟೆ. ದೇವಗಿರಿಯೆಂದು ಮೊದಲು ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ಈ ಕೋಟೆ, ಹಲವು ಇತಿಹಾಸಕಾರರ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ರಾಷ್ಟçಕೂಟ ರಾಜರಿಂದ ಕಟ್ಟಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು. ಎಲ್ಲೋರಾದ ಗುಹೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊರೆದು ಕೆತ್ತಿರುವ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಕೂಟರಿಂದ  ಮಾತ್ರ ಇಂತಹ ಅಪೂರ್ವವಾದ ಕೋಟೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಇತಿಹಾಸಕಾರರ ಅಂಬೋಣ.ಈ ಕೋಟೆ ರಚನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶೇಷತೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಕೋಟೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ವಿಶಾಲವಾದ ಮೈದಾನ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಗೊಳ್ಳುವ ಕೋಟೆ ಪಿರಮಿಡ್ ಆಕೃತಿಯ ಬೆಟ್ಟವೊಂದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಟ್ಟಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಈ ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಕೊರೆದು ಕಟ್ಟಿ, ಕೋಟೆಯನ್ನು ಆಕ್ರಮಣಕಾರರಿಂದ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಕೋಟೆಯು ಮೂರು ಸುತ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದು, ಹೊರಗಿನ ಸುತ್ತನ್ನು ‘ಅಂಬರಕೋಟ್’ ಎಂದೂ ಎರಡನೆಯ ಸುತ್ತನ್ನು ‘ಮಹಾಕೋಟ್’ ಎಂದೂ, ಕೊನೆಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲಿನ ಕೋಟೆಯಭಾಗವನ್ನು ‘ಕಾಲಾಕೋಟ್’ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಂಬರಕೋಟ್ ದೌಲತಾಬಾದ್ ನ ಹಳೆಯ ನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಡಿಹೋಗಿದ್ದು, ಕೋಟೆಯ ಶಿಖರ ಭಾಗದಿಂದ ಇದರ ಗುರುತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಣಬಹುದಾಗಿದೆ. ಮಹಾಕೋಟ್ ಕೋಟೆಯ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಸುತ್ತ ಹರಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು ಈ ಸುತ್ತಿನ ನಂತರ ನೀರಿನ ಅಗಳು ಅಥವಾ ಕಂದಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಡಿದಾದ ಗೋಡೆ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಕಾಲಾಕೋಟ್ ಇದೆ.ಕೋಟೆಯ ಈ ಕಾಲಾಕೋಟ್ ಸುತ್ತನ್ನು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಲು “ಅಂಧೇರೀ ಕಾ ರಾಸ್ತಾ” ಎಂಬ ಕತ್ತಲಿನ ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ದಾಟಬೇಕು, ದುರ್ಗಮ ದಾರಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ...
